Reception
Welcome to Reception
Reception class teachers – Emma Blake and Melissa Honey
We are thrilled to welcome you and your child to the start of an exciting journey in our Reception class. This is a very special year, filled with curiosity, discovery and growth, as your child takes their first steps into school life in a safe, supportive, nurturing and inspiring environment.
Our dedicated team is committed to supporting every child as they develop socially, emotionally and academically. Through purposeful play, carefully planned activities and rich learning experiences, we provide opportunities for children to explore, investigate and develop their skills and confidence. We believe in building strong partnerships with families and value your involvement and support every step of the way.
Children have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of experiences both indoors and outdoors every day. Through our carefully planned provision, they develop knowledge, skills and understanding across all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
We take great pride in providing well-resourced, clean and organised learning environments that encourage children to become confident and independent learners. At Orchard Fields, we follow a ‘less is more’ approach to our learning environment. By carefully selecting and organising resources, we encourage children to focus on their learning, make independent choices and become deeply engaged in their play and exploration.
Independence is at the heart of our approach. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for choosing, organising and caring for their resources, as well as tidying them away when they have finished. These simple routines help children to develop confidence, responsibility and important skills that will support them throughout their school journey.
By the end of the academic year, our aim is for every child to have developed a love of learning, grown in confidence and independence, and thrived within our Reception environment. We want them to leave us feeling happy, proud of their achievements and ready to take their next steps into Year 1 and beyond.
We are so excited to get to know your child and to work alongside you to make their Reception year a happy, engaging and memorable experience, filled with wonderful learning opportunities and positive memories.
