School Council
Article 12 of the United Nations states, “Children have the right to say what they think should happen, when adults make decisions that affect them and to have their opinion taken into account,” This is reflected by our school council as each class, from each year group has one elected member to speak on the behalf of the matters that are important.
Our school council members aim to meet fortnightly, to discuss and share ideas each year group have. The school council members have all been elected by members of their class, so it is fair and democratic.
We have an elected Chairperson and Secretary in our meetings that help prepare the agenda for upcoming meetings and communicate this with the lead teacher in the meeting, which is Mrs Morgan (Year 3 teacher).
School council members are aware of the importance of reporting to their class about; what has been discussed and decided in all school council meetings.
Overall, the school council is a vital part of the school so that we can ensure all children from KS1 to KS2 have the opportunity to have a say on all aspects of school life.
